Federation Track South is a 1,501 kilometre bushwalking route from Circular Quay and the Federation Pavilion in Sydney to the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne, the site of the first Australian Federal Parliament.
The scenery on the track varies from views of Sydney’s world famous Harbour to the spectacular view of Melbourne from Mt. Dandenong; from the spring flowers of the Royal National Park to the summer flowers of the Australian Alps; from the magnificent Crosscut Saw in the Victorian Alps to the awe inspiring Wanganderry Walls in the Burragorang Valley; from the surf-pounded battlements of Cape Solander in Botany Bay National Park to the quiet reflections of the Blue Lake in Kosciusko National Park; from the exquisite tree ferns of the Dandenong Ranges to the giant she-oaks of the Wollondilly River; from the majestic splendour of Mt. Jagungal in Kosciusko National Park to the breath-taking beauty of Buddong Falls near Talbingo; from the vast panorama from Long Spur to the endless purple ranges along the Bogong High Plains; from the awesome bulk of the Ada Tree in the Latrobe Valley to the mist-drifted pines of Lake Blowering
Federation Track South links and follows existing long-range and short-range tracks in NSW and Victoria built by various authorities. The route has been proof-walked,way-pointed and documented.
